“No man’s and yet as mortal as his own;

“No one would have believed, in the last years of thenineteenth century, that human affairs were being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man’s and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their affairs they were scrutinized and studied,perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with microscope mightscrutinize the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water” (War of the Worlds)Every person dreams at least once in his life to look into the unknown, to know the future, to open the door to the past. Fantasy helps to enter the unknown; it is which caused the appearance of science fiction. Today’s literature is simply unthinkable without such a genre as science fiction. It happened in the literature that the image of the future – not only technology, but also the society of the future , and everything incredible is intrusted to science fiction. Enthusiastic people know that science fiction is extremely diverse. The War of the Worlds – is a science fiction novel by Herbert George Wells, which tells about the invasion of Martians on Earth. Italian astronomer Giovanni Virginio Schiaparelli in 1877 discovered on mars a network of straight lines, which he called the channels. There was a hypothesis that these channels are artificial structures. Then this point of view was subsequently refuted, but during his lifetime this point of view was widely recognized. Hence, logically the idea of the inhabitation of this planet flowed. Mars is older than the Earth, and farther from the sun. From here, does not it follow that during the existence of Mars, they have grown incomparable with terrestrial technology, and at the same time the desire to relocate to another planet, more convenient for the life. Martians brought to Earth new principles of science and technology. Their combat tripods, their heat rays, their gas attacks, the ability to use articulate devices rather than wheeled, to which the engineers of future came. And another foresight of Wells is chimerical. The Martians are like a tadpoles, equipped with bundles of tentacles. They are more of the terrestrial, rather than extra-terrestrial civilization. And for the human, they are disgusting. Especially since the Martiansfeed on the blood of a human being. The action of the novel begins with the fall of the first Martian cylinder. People dream to establish contact with aliens. But Martians have different plans. They need to conquer the land, and from the very beginning they behave extremely aggressively, suppressing the first acts of possible resistance. They are destroying the artillery batteries aimed at them with a heat rays. The government is still in a position to call on the population to leave London, but after which all functions are completely became exhausted. There is no longer social order. The mass escapement of the population begins from the world’s largest cities. People, who are not subordinate to a more external discipline, show themselves as they are. The movie, which I will talk about in the article, is based on this famous novel directed by the famous director Steven Spielberg. This is not the first and not the last movie based on the novel. But for the ones who are interested with the novel closer, can say that this is the best version of movie based on the novel, even the differences from the novel are numerous. But in the beginning of the paper i will take a closer look at the writer and the novel.
