Lee Jeffries
Lee Jeffries was born and still living in the united kingdom . He started as an amature photographer at the age of 37. He was an accountant at the time of his flourishing interest for photography. Before a marathon in london, he was taking photos for, he saw a sweet young homeless girl and went to photograph her. She saw this and raised a fight but after talking a friendship came to be and so did is passion of getting to know the homeless and capturing their pain and emotions.
When Jefferies started photography he started capturing sports events, till he met the young women and his artistic vision changed forever. He is now a humanist photographer capturing the social issues of letting people stay on the streets to raise money to get some of these people help. Mr. Lee says that the photos are not just taken by walking by but after a long conversation with every individual. He looks past there appearance and helps them feel like a person rather than a poor person waiting for a hand out, he helps these people have a little bit of light in there lives. He wanted to honor these people’s lives not pity them. His photos capture the lifestyle that these people live everyday. They show in the health of there face and the wrinkles of stress what these people have been through in their life. No one wants to be homeless everyone has a story and he captures it so people can see it without knowing the story.
Lee Jeffries never had any schooling for photography. He is self taught with no help. He started just doing raw photos in color now we spends from 5 minutes to any number of hours editing and uses only black and white and having the contrast very high. He now gives a lot of advice to young photographers and has large exhibits and projects to help the homeless. He did all of this in five years and now is a very well known spokesperson for those without a voice in society.
