Participation in sports activities benefit people in many ways. It teaches adolescents many qualities like dedication, leadership, and teamwork. Participation in sports is directed at keeping or improving physical ability and skills while providing excitement to participants, and sometimes, entertainment for viewers. Being in a sport not only benefits a person physically and mentally, but educates them about that certain sport and teaches them skills that are used in life.     Sports includes all forms of competitive physical activities or games through casual or organised participation. They are usually played between two sides, each attempting to surpass the other. A few games permit a tie game; others give tie-breaking techniques, to guarantee one champ and one loser. Several games exist, from those between single competitors, through those with many members, either in groups or competing as individuals.     Soccer is a sport played by millions of people around the world, making it one of the world’s most popular sport played. Soccer is a sport played on a field involving two teams of eleven players with a ball. The objective of the game is to score by getting the ball into the other team’s goal at each end of the field. Although goalkeepers are allowed to use their hand and arms during the game, the rest of the players are not. The team that scores the most goals before the end of the of the match wins. If the score remains tied by the end of the game, either a draw is declared or the game is given additional time depending on the type of match being played. During additional time, if the teams are unable to score, a penalty shootout would occur.  Soccer is not only an entertaining sport to take part in in and watch, but it also offers valuable advantages to the competitor involved. Participating in soccer is an excellent method to gain and keep up physical fitness. During the game, players walk, jog, and run almost constantly for about ninety minutes. The sport advances adaptability, coordination, and muscle endurance. Participants gain concentration and practice strategies of thinking rapidly to react to situations on the field. It also teaches the value of working together to achieve a common goal. Players on a team must work together to overcome the issues that emerge in the field. Soccer is not the only sport to offer all these benefits.  Basketball is also a widely recognized sport. Basketball is a restricted physical game played on a rectangular court. It is regularly played as a team activity with five players on each team .The goal is to shoot a ball through a hoop that is mounted to a backboard at each end of the court. A team can score by shooting the ball through the hoop being guarded by the rival team during play. A field goal scores three points for the shooting team if the player shoots from behind the three-point line, and two points if shot from before the line. A team can score by receiving fouls resulting in free throws, which are worth one point. The team with the most points toward the end of the match wins, yet extra time is given when the score is tied at the end of the match.  In addition to being an entertaining sport, basketball also offers benefits to the athlete participating in it. Basketball involves running, jumping and rapid movements using the entire body. Basketball requires teamwork. Like every other sport, basketball has a number of rules that need to be followed. Breaking them result in fouls, affecting the team. Basketball requires to have great stamina, but is also a mental game. The athlete must have awareness of where their teammate and opponent is to decide which action to take to score. Playing basketball helps reduce stress and gives the players an opportunity to socialize with others.   In conclusion, sports do not only help athletes physically, but mentally as well. Participating in sports builds character, teamwork and perseverance. Some sports may benefit one more than others, some may be more enjoyable, but the one thing they share in common is that they work to benefit the athlete.
