You initially bought Mike in because of the many symptoms Mike was relating to with his great grandpa. As being Mike’s wife you must have an infinity amount of questions which we hope to answer all of in this message. Now this disease has been in your family before and is no surprise. Over 15% of people with Parkinson’s disease have a family history of the disorder. This disease very much affects the way one moves which happens when there is a problem with a certain nerve cell in the brain. We are not positive what makes the nerve cells breaks down but are researching that at this very moment. There are elements that could cause this disease to happen like aging and poisons in the environment but do not know for sure what is triggering this to happen. The inheritance of Parkinson disease is dependent on one of two genes. One is the alpha-synuclein gene located in the long arm of chromosome 4. Another is the parkin gene located in the long arm of chromosome 6.There are four main sysomos of this disease. First there is tremor, which means shaking or trembling. Tremor can affect one’s hands, arms, or legs. This first symptom could be the hardest to live with and can very much affect Mikes daily life. Secondary, stiff muscles which means it will be hard to move different parts of you body. Thirdly, slow movement, moving around doing you usually errands will become harder and harder. Lastly, problems with balance or walking. He will need extra support like a cane and mostly you for the encouragement. Parkinson’s disease is terrible but will not kill you. Mike will need lots of extra care doing easy things like buttoning his shirt and putting the keys in the car which will very much make a difference for him. Also don’t forget to let him try to do things on his own first. At the moment there are no cure for Parkinson’s disease.
